Measles case confirmed in San Mateo County, first of 2025

(KRON) -- San Mateo County health officials have confirmed a case of measles occurred in the county earlier this year. According to officials, there was a single case in February that was related to travel.
Officials investigated and traced contacts, determining there were no further cases locally.
The San Mateo County Health Department told KRON4.com that it did not make an announcement at the time because its practice is only to announce disease investigations when there is a perceived ongoing threat to public health.

"In this case, our investigators were able to reach everyone considered a potential exposure, and there was no further risk," officials told KRON4.
Statewide, measles cases have been reported in five other counties, including Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange, Placer and Tuolumne. ...read more read less
