Gas prices in Massachusetts rise 2 cents, nearing $3 per gallon

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Gas prices are rising as pricier summer blended gasoline trickles into the market.
Across the state, the average gas price is up 2 cents from last week, averaging nearly $3 a gallon.
Senior Vice President of Investments at Raymond James and Associates, Mark Teed says a
key factor in the subdued seasonal rise in prices, is the unusually light demand for gas. However, there are concerns over tariff policies and inflation -- driving up prices
"I think lately it's just because of the uncertainty in the world markets, there's talk about war," Teed says. "There's talk about tariffs. It's just the uncertainty leads to people starting to buy more. And that's what's pushing the price of oil up."
Teed says that we should know by Wednesday if these tariffs are going to stick. And if they do, he says we'll see prices increase. But he adds that we aren't seeing dramatic swings in oil like we used to because we have alternatives -- like electric vehicles, solar panels, and wind turbines.
