INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Spring is here, which means the return of the beloved Trader Joe’s mini canvas tote bags is right around the corner. The grocer is bringing its mini canvas totes to stores across the U.S. in April. The exact date the bags will be available in your neighborhood wi ll vary, according to a Trader Joe’s spokesperson. The mini canvas tote is priced at $2.99, the same as last year, and will come in new pastel hues of blue, green, pink and purple. The adorable totes are made of the same heavy-duty, 65% cotton/35% polyester blend as the grocer’s larger, classic Canvas Bags. The only difference, the grocer’s website says, is the size. The mini totes are about 13 inches long by 11 inches tall by 6 inches wide. Trader Joe’s says the mini canvas tote bag is perfect for “smaller shopping trips.” For example, the mini tote can hold a dozen apples or small paperback book, cheese sticks, and a baguette. The mini canvas tote bags made their debut last year and quickly went viral. “Our Mini Canvas Tote Bags certainly sold more quickly than we anticipated,” said Nakia Rohde, a spokesperson for Trader Joe’s, told the AP last March. “Before we had the opportunity to promote them in any way, customers across the country found them at their neighborhood Trader Joe’s.” The bags were soon listed on platforms like eBay and Facebook marketplace for $20 or more apiece.
