9 Day Forecast: Strong winds, temperatures drop this week

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- Happy Sunday, El Paso. We see a break from the blowing dust and stronger winds on Monday, but that relief does not last long with a high wind watch issued for Tuesday into Wednesday this week.
As for temperatures, the El Paso area will see highs above average through Tu
esday before dropping below average throughout the remaining forecast period.
Monday will be warm with a high near 82 and low around 54. Winds will be breezy to light, moving in around 5-10 mph from the southwest.
Wind speeds increase Tuesday to around 30-35 mph, with gusts nearing 55 mph. Widespread blowing dust is expected in the afternoon along with a high near 81 and low around 49. Overnight, the winds will decrease to 10-20 mph, but gusts will still be near the mid-50s range.
Wednesday will be slightly calmer and cooler with a high in the low 70s and low near 50. Winds will blow 20-30 mph from the northwest, with gusts nearing speeds around 50 mph. Blowing dust in some areas is expected after noon through the evening hours. Winds decrease after midnight to 10-20 mph, with gusts around 45 mph.
Once the strong winds subside, we’ll be left with below-average temperatures. Mostly sunny skies are expected for Thursday with a high near 67 and low around 48.
Active weather doesn’t stop with winds, though. Shower chances are on the board Friday through Saturday. Friday’s high will be near 71 with a low around 49 while Saturday will be much cooler with a high in the lower 60s and low around 47.
Moderate winds return Sunday. The high will be around 63 with a low near 50.
Going into the next week, it appears we’ll start to gradually warm back up to the 70s with Monday showing a high in the mid 60s and Tuesday closer to 70. ...read more read less
