'Defunding this death organization': Students for Life of America hosts antiabortion gathering

FORT WAYNE, Ind (WANE) -- Students for Life of America hosts an event at a Planned Parenthood location in hopes to stand up against Planned Parenthood, "gruesome abortion business."
As a part of a nationwide initiative, Defund Planned Parenthood Across America, starting Thursday, groups have gath
ered at Congressional Offices, on college and university campuses, as well as near Planned Parenthood facilities, displaying 1,076 pink crosses. Each pink cross represents "one for every innocent life lost each day as a result of Planned Parenthood's gruesome abortion business."
The Fort Wayne chapter of Students for Life of America hosted its event Saturday at 10 a.m at the Planned Parenthood location, located at 2930 Lake Avenue.
Around 11 people were in attendance, where they participated in prayer and song.
The hope with this is to not only end abortions nationwide, but to put pressure on President Donald Trump to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood facilities.
“While the Pro-Life Generation continues to pressure President Donald Trump to defund Planned Parenthood at the federal level, we can still pressure state legislators to look at defunding this death organization at the state level,” said SFLA President Kristan Hawkins. “Especially with Roe v. Wade in the ash heap of history, pro-lifers can speak loudly and clearly for the preborn lives in their states and call for federal action across the nation.”
Just earlier this week Planned Parenthood launched its Virtual Health Center in Indiana, which allows for patients around the state of Indiana to connect with trusted providers to discuss birth control, emergency contraception, pregnancy planning, gender-affirming care, STI testing and treatment, menopause support, and more—all from the safety and convenience of their own homes.
All of this comes during an ongoing battle within the state of Indiana the releasing terminated pregnancy reports from the Indiana Department of Health, after a near-total abortion ban following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
Indiana became one of the first states to implement stricter abortion bans after the controversial ruling removed federal abortion protections. Under Indiana’s current abortion law, abortions are only offered in certain cases of rape or incest, if the mother’s life was in danger, or for fetal anomalies.
