PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Criminal Investigations and Fugitive Apprehension arrested a second man in connection with a homicide Sunday afternoon. On March 23, Portsmouth police responded to a call about a possible deceased male at a business in the 500 block of Cumberland Avenue at approximately 3:55 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced the victim, later identified as 51-year-old Bennie Anthony Artis Jr., deceased on the scene. Guy Leighton Taylor, 34, has been charged with first degree murder conspiracy to commit murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting in the commission of a felony, shooting with the intent to maim, kill, or injure and discharging a firearm within a building. Previously, Dontayous Tonard Cameron, 44, was arrested on Monday. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
