ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester Emergency Veterinary Services (REVS) is gearing up to open in their brand-new facility located at 445 West Commercial St. in East Rochester.
When they first opened in 2024, they said they only had two full time veterinarians, 31 full time employees and were w
orking out of a 3,000 square foot hospital. Now officials said they have eight vets, over 75 full time staff and have moved into a 12,000 square foot space.
"The new hospital more than triples the amount of workspace that we are currently utilizing," said Co-Medical Director Jamie Araki. They will have kennel space for more than 50 animals, four dedicated oxygen cages to help treat severe respiratory cases that come in.
They said they will also have a dedicated cat word to provide low stress area to be able to heal and mend away from barking. Adding upgraded ultrasound capabilities and increased diagnostics will also be available.
"The nine exam rooms that we have will be a little bit more efficient in reducing the wait times, although they will not be able to completely eliminate them, and we have a new lab and digital x-ray so that we can get the critical diagnostics we need in a timely manner," said Araki.
Officials noted they do still have a lot of work to do. At this time, they add they will keep their current hours - which are weekdays from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and will offer 24-hour care on weekends, beginning Fridays at 7 p.m. until Mondays at 7 a.m.
They hope to expand those hours to offer 24/7 care later this month, depending on how fast they get settled in and managing the workload.
