Cranston Police make ‘several significant drug seizures’

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said that it had made several drug arrests and seizures over the week.
The department said the three cases represented a “commitment to keeping the city safe.”
The first case occurred on March 27 during a traffic stop on Park Avenue and R
eservoir Avenue.
21-year-old Teddy Lopez was arrested on several drug trafficking charges.
A search of the vehicle allegedly found 11 kilos of cocaine hidden inside a compartment along with fentanyl, marijuana, and $1700.
The second case also happened on March 27, during a search warrant on Cutting Avenue.
27-year-old Jerry Taylor was charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver.
The department said it found 2500 pressed fentanyl pills, 16 grams of fentanyl powder, 16.6 grams pressed methamphetamine pills, 16.6 grams of mushrooms, and other unidentified substances and drug paraphrenia during the search.
The final incident occurred on March 19 during the serving of a search warrant at a homeless encampment off Route 295.
40-year-old Donald Iasimone was arrested on multiple charges including possession with intent to distribute narcotics and weapons charges.
The search allegedly found crack cocaine, methamphetamine, drug packaging materials, 2 BB guns, a knife, $443 in cash, and 30 stolen shopping carts from a nearby business.
“The amount of dangerous drugs removed from our streets over the past week is significant,” Chief Michael Winquist said. “These arrests send a clear message: If you engage in drug trafficking in our community, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable.”
