Pedestrian dead following St. Bernard Parish crash

ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Chalmette woman is dead after reportedly being hit by a car in St. Bernard Parish on Thursday, March 27.
According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop B began investigating the crash, which happened on LA 39 near Plaza Drive, around 8 p.m.

The initial investigation shows that 66-year-old Karen Joseph walked into the westbound lanes of LA 39, in an area without a crosswalk, and was hit by a 2015 Toyota Camry that was heading west on the highway.
Joseph was critically injured and taken to a local hospital where she later died. The driver of the Toyota was properly restrained and uninjured.
Toxicology samples were taken for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
