New Orleans woman arrested, accused of setting home on fire with someone inside

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Deputies with the Louisiana Fire Marshal Office arrested a woman who was accused of starting a fire in St. Amant.
According to a release, Nicole R. Mellon, 43, of New Orleans, was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of attempted se
cond-degree murder and aggravated arson.
Investigators determined that around 5:30 a.m. on March 24, Mellon set a camper on fire that was located in the 10400 block of Acy Road. The fire happened after Mellon and the victim were involved in a fight.
A neighbor saw the fire and alerted the victim, who was able to escape unharmed.
The St. Amant Fire Department was called, but neighbors extinguished the fire before the firefighters arrived.
