Even though tennis star Danielle Collins was defeated by Belarusian top seed Aryna Sabalenka in round 16 of the Miami Open, she’s feeling like a grand slam winner after rescuing a wounded dog. Earlier this week, Collins adopted a pup that she and her entourage came across while leaving the Hard Ro ck Stadium. The dog, resembling a German Shepherd breed, was found laying in the middle of the road after being hit by a car. Collins says took him to a nearby veterinary hospital, where he was in critical condition and on oxygen support for days. (Getty; Instagram / danimalcollins) Following his release from the hospital, Collins took to Instagram to share the happy news that she’d officially adopted the dog and given him a new pun-intended name. “Crash is recovering and finally out of the hospital,” wrote the four-time WTA champ. “His breathing is back to normal, his wounds are healing and he’s definitely enjoying all the love he’s receiving. He’s curious, affectionate and grateful for a second chance at life.” The 31-year-old said she’s thankful for being there to get Crash the care he needed, and couldn’t be happier to give her labradoodle, Quincy, a brother.
