Chesterfield to hold meetings for zoning modernization project
Mar 27, 2025
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Planning Department is hosting several community meetings this April to inform residents about a project aiming to update the county's current Zoning Ordinance.
According to a release from the county, the Zoning Ordinance Modernization (ZOM
od) project is described as a "comprehensive rewrite" of the current Zoning Ordinance -- which has remained largely unchanged since the 1970s.
There has been a plan in place since the fall of 2019 to update the ordinance, with the ZOMod project acting as an implementation tool for the county's Comprehensive Plan -- a way to help address major problems within the community.
Although the county has gained input from the community as well as stakeholders during the drafting process, they are seeking further public comment for the most recent draft -- ZOMod Draft 3.
A schedule for the upcoming meetings, which will showcase ZOMod Draft 3 and answer community questions regarding the project, has been provided by the county:
Thursday, April 10 -- Providence Elementary School (Clover Hill District)
Wednesday, April 16 -- Cosby High School (Matoaca District)
Thursday, April 17 -- Beulah Recreation Center (Dale District)
Monday, April 21 -- Matoaca High School (Matoaca District)
Tuesday, April 22 -- Midlothian Middle School (Midlothian District)
Monday, April 28 -- Thomas Dale High School, West Campus (Bermuda District)
All of the meetings listed above will follow the same agenda:
5:30 to 6 p.m. -- Open house
6 to 6:30 p.m. -- Project update presentation
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. -- Open house Q&A
For those who are unable to attend the meetings, there will be drop-in office hours available for questions about ZOMod Draft 3 -- click here for more information.
