HOSFORD-ABERN
ETHY — Crux Fermentation Project will close its pub and restaurant at 2715 SE 8th Avenue on Sunday, March 30, per the Portland Business Journal. The closure comes less than two years after opening, and the Business Journal also notes that the shutdown also coincides with the sale of Crux’s 1.5-acre property in Bend, per the business’s Instagram account.
MONTAVILLA — East Glisan Pizza Lounge is temporarily closed as of Monday, March 17, as noted by Bridgetown Bites. The owners shared an Instagram post expressing their thanks to the community, and stating in part that, “East Glisan is not the place we need it to be for us, or what we want it to be for employees.” The message goes on to share that the business will return, but they’re “taking some space to look at the business with new eyes, to take what we’ve learned over the past 11 years and rebuild with structure and culture in place that we and our crew deserve.” Keep your eyes peeled on the East Glisan Instagram account for some movement toward reopening.
BOISE — Soup dumpling fans will be sad to hear that XLB will close its doors as of Sunday, April 20. An Instagram post sharing the closure news, with owner Linh Tran writing in part, “This decision was not made lightly, and we are incredibly grateful for the support, laughter, and memories we’ve shared with all of you over the years.” There’s still time to drop in, but check XLB’s Instagram page before going, as the restaurant may have intermittent closures until April 20.
HAPPY VALLEY — The Happy Valley location of Kim Jong Grillin is now closed as of Tuesday, March 18, per the restaurant’s Instagram account and Bridgetown Bites. Chef Han Ly Hwang wrote a few notes on the closing, writing, “When I try to plug Kim Jong Grillin into a brick and mortar it doesn’t quite fit. ... But then I am quickly reminded why. And it’s just simply that KJG is meant for the streets.” Fans can still head to the cart location at 770 W Burnside Street for their KJG fix.
TIGARD — Portland-founded McCormick & Schmick’s closed its last remaining Oregon location in Tigard as of Saturday, March 22, KGW-TV reports. Representatives for the company say the building’s lease is expiring, and that it is working on relocating employees to its other nearby restaurants.
March 14
SELLWOOD-MORELAND — One of Portland’s go-to upscale restaurants, with a penchant for small farm-sourced meals, closed for good on Saturday, February 22. Bridgetown Bites caught the farewell post from Fallow’s Rest Wild on social media and wrote a send-off, too. Owners Paul Arnold and Marne Minard told the outlet they wanted to focus on their other restaurant, Bastion, and return to being “small restaurant people.” The business opened in April 2024. Gift cards here can be used at Bastion.
RICHMOND — A SE Hawthorne Boulevard business running since 1991 has closed. An Eater Portland tipster wrote in to say Hello Little India had closed; Yelp users confirmed the news. The family-run outfit lived next door to favorites Bagdad Theater & Pub and the former Harlow location — now bar Afterlife and vegan fast food dealer Gnarly’s.
KING — A three-year-old food cart on NE 14th Avenue is up for sale. NoPoBoys took to Instagram to announce the business will be operational until it sells, meaning the new owner could keep things the same or rebrand. Ever Out reports ownership will offer a discount for those who keep the “Pacific Northwest sandwiches with global influence” outfit running just the same.
