A 21-year-old man accused of shooting into a Greeley crowd of “auto enthusiasts” was sentenced to three years in prison after he took a deal and pleaded guilty to vehicular eluding, dropping a dozen other charges from his case, according to court records. Alberto Corona pleaded guilty to felony vehicular eluding in December, court records show. As part of the deal, additional charges of attempted first-degree murder, felony menacing, disorderly conduct, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, displaying a fictitious license plate, driving an unregistered vehicle and five counts of possessing a weapon as a previous offender were dismissed by the Weld County District Attorney’s Office. Just after midnight on Sept. 30, 2024, Corona drove by a crowd of nearly 60 “auto enthusiasts” in Greeley and fired multiple shots before driving away, according to the police department. Corona was sentenced by Weld County District Court Judge Anita Jain Crowther to three years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, according to court records.
