(CNN)– Americans do not have much faith in the economy right now.
The Conference Board said in its latest survey that consumer confidence this month slid to a reading of 92.9.
That’s the lowest level since January 2021.
The survey showed Americans are expecting higher inflation this yea
r.
And more are also predicting the economy will slip into a recession.
The combination of weakening growth and accelerating inflation resembles “stagflation”, and federal reserve officials also see the U.S. economy trending in that direction.
