NMSU baseball falls to No. 17 DBU in CUSA home opener

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — New Mexico State baseball looked for redemption against Dallas Baptist after going 0-3 against the Patriots last year during the regular season. DBU is also the team that knocked out NMSU in the Conference USA Tournament in 2024.
The Aggies looked to knock down the No. 1
7 team in the country during its Conference USA home opener Friday night.
NMSU put up a fight early take the quick lead on a Brandon Forrester unearned run to go up, 1-0. DBU would respond with two in the second and one in the 3rd to give the Patriots its first lead of the day, 3-2.
A Sheehan O'Connor, Joey Craig and Forrester run would give NMSU the one run gain once more at the bottom of the 3rd, 4-3.
A DBU grand slam at the top of the 4th courtesy Chayton Krauss, would be the beginning of the end for the Aggies. The bomb putting the Patriots up, 8-4, over NMSU.
Throughout the final four innings of the game, NMSU would be held scoreless with the exception of the 7th where they were able to tack on two more runs - however - at this point DBU was able to double that.
Dallas Baptist will defeat NMSU in its CUSA home opener, 14-7.
NMSU's Jack Turner was handed the loss at the mound - giving up nine hits and 11 runs paired with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.
