A man shot and killed himself after being pursued by police for suspected domestic violence Sunday morning in south San Diego, authorities said. Police said they were called around 7:40 a.m. by a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had pointed a gun at her mother to make her leave with him from an apart ment complex on Oro Vista Road in Nestor. The caller and suspect left the apartment in a car; Officer Colin Steinbroner said he did not know if the woman or the man was driving. Responding officers spotted the vehicle driving away and pursued it. The driver was headed south on Oro Vista near Tocayo Avenue when officers put a spike strip in the street. Whoever was driving ended up pulling over on Tocayo, Steinbroner said. Officers heard a gunshot and found that a 33-year-old man had fatally shot himself. The woman wasn’t injured.
