Man arrested after elderly mom found living with nearly 40 cats

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Blytheville, Arkansas man was arrested after his 92-year-old mom was found living in what police are calling deplorable conditions with nearly 40 cats.
Paul Taylor, 61, was charged Monday with felony Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent person and Cruelty to Animals.
Blytheville Police said they issued a search warrant for the 300 block of South Franklin and found the 92-year-old woman living in the home with 38 cats. One cat was found dead inside the home.

Investigators said Taylor also lived in the residence and was his mother's caretaker.
The sheriff's department said the Blytheville Animal Control, Blytheville Fire Department, Blytheville Code Enforcement, Gosnell Animal Control, Cattyshack Cat Rescue, Mended Paws Rescue, Dr. Cato’s Veterinarian Office CARES Clarksdale, Good Shepherd Humane Society of Eureka Springs, Cabot Animal Services and the Bissell Pet Foundation also assisted with the removal of the cats.

It's unclear where the cats were taken or the condition of the animals seized.
Taylor is scheduled to appear in Blytheville District Court on Tuesday.
