INDIANAPOLIS — A family was displaced during a residence fire on the south side of Indianapolis on Saturday. Public emergency reporting systems indicate the Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched to the 6600 block of Newstead Drive — which is located just off West Banta Road — around 6 :34 p.m. to investigate a reported house fire. Firefighters at the scene told FOX59 and CBS4 two adults and one cat safely evacuated the residence during the fire. The home's occupants were displaced due to the extent of the damage the structure sustained. IFD also confirmed no firefighters were injured during the blaze.
