Mar 22, 2025
The Latest from Storm Team 5...
Today was the best day of the weekend, as sunshine emerged in the afternoon, bringing highs into the 30s to around 40s degrees. The weather, will take a downward turn for the back half of our weekend.
An area of low pressure is developing over the plains, and wi
ll take a track down into southern WI. This track is the one where the precipitation type becomes hard to forecast as an wobble in temperatures will impact what type of precipitation you will see.
Tonight, plan on increasing clouds, which will likely impact viewing if the northern lights. Lows will fall back into the 20s to around 30, before warming up overnight as clouds build in and our winds pick up the pace out of the SE.
Around daybreak tomorrow, most should be dry but precipitation will be moving into our western counties. The precipitation will start to fill in over the course of the morning as it overcomes some low level dry air.
It will start out as a mixture of rain and snow, and we will watch the rain and snow line slowly march north over the course of the morning and into the afternoon. Areas far north will stay all snow, with a rain and snow mix impacting a majority of our viewing area. Winds will be gusty at times, closing in on 25-35mph for peak wind gusts. System tapers overnight Sunday, with any remaining precipitation changing over to snow. However, winds will gust close to 40mph.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect at 7am Sunday AM through 7am Monday Morning for Door, southern Oconto and Shawano counties. A WINTER STORM WARNING goes into effect at 7am Sunday through 7am Monday for Langlade, Marinette, Menominee, northern Oconto and into the UP.
Snowfall totals will be highest across the far north and northern Door county where it stays snow for the entire event. Lower totals for Green Bay and the Fox Valley. Some lake enhancement is possible from the SE winds off Lake Michigan.
Besides a few early flurries, Monday is quiet and cloudy, just watch for a few slippery spots to develop due to refreeze. The mid part of our week will be nothing short of spectacular as highs climb close to 50! Watch for a few rain shower late Friday into Saturday.
