STERLING, Va. (DC News Now) -- A power outage at London's Heathrow Airport (LHR) stranded hundreds of U.K.-bound flyers at Dulles International Airport (IAD) on Thursday and Friday.
Officials said that a fire at an electrical substation near Heathrow wiped out power to the airport, sparking the l
argest disruption to global air travel in years. More than 1,300 flights have been canceled so far, impacting roughly 200,000 travelers.

Many flyers told DC News Now that they've waited at the airport for over 24 hours to learn whether they'll be rebooked on another flight.
British Airways passenger Max Badoy's flight from IAD to LHR traversed most of the Atlantic Ocean last night before the crew alerted the passengers they'd need to turn around. Badoy remained at IAD and booked a seat on a Friday evening flight.
"The staff was really lovely about it," Badoy said.
The Wolfe family of Crofton, Md. had a more frustrating experience. Ron Wolfe said they'd spent nearly $5,000 on a vacation to visit family in London and Scotland. Their Thursday evening flight was canceled, and they spent most of Friday in line at the British Airways ticket counter.
As of 5:45 p.m., eight long-haul flights were cleared to depart from LHR, and three evening flights from IAD to Heathrow were scheduled on time.
