CHARLOTTE, N.C. – TSA Checkpoint 2 at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will open Monday, March 24 for limited passenger screenings.
“The opening of Checkpoint 2 is a major milestone in the Terminal Lobby Expansion project, as streamlining security checkpoints from five to three while inc
reasing capacity will provide passengers with a faster, more efficient screening experience,” said Jack Christine, CLT’s Chief Infrastructure Officer.
The checkpoint will become fully operational on Wednesday, March 26. Following its opening, Checkpoint A will permanently close later next week.
Checkpoint 2 will be the main screening location for TSA PreCheck and flight crews. This checkpoint’s launch completes the airport’s plan to consolidate five lettered checkpoints into three numerical ones. This initiative also expanded the total number of screening lanes.
With the added lanes, TSA expects to process an additional 600 passengers per hour.
Charlotte Douglas saw a record 58.8 million travelers in 2024.
