Popular Bay Area bagel shop to open new location in Concord

(KRON) -- One of the more popular bagel shops in the Bay Area is expanding with another location. Boichik Bagels is opening a new shop in Concord this spring, according to founder and CEO Emily Winston.
The new bagel shop is set to open at 2980 Treat Blvd. in the Oak Grove Plaza near the Concord-W
alnut Creek border. Winston says her team is targeting an opening in early May. Boichik joins Trader Joe's, Round Table Pizza, Jimmy John's and Baskin-Robbins as other establishments in the shopping center.
Boichik in Concord is set to take over the space that was occupied by Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff for 35 years. The comic store relocated last fall to Heritage Square on Concord Avenue.

Boichik was founded by Emily Winston in 2019. Since opening its first store on College Avenue in Berkeley, Boichik has quickly risen to one of the more popular bagel establishments based in the Bay Area. The bagel shop has more than 27,000 followers on its Instagram.
It received high praise from The New York Times in 2021 when the outlet's food critic wrote that Boichik has "some of the finest New York-style bagels I’ve ever tasted. They just happen to be made in Berkeley."
There are currently 10 Boichik Bagels locations open in cities such as Los Gatos, San Francisco, Palo Alto and Santa Clara. Last month, Boichik Bagels opened its first location outside of the Bay Area in Los Angeles' Los Feliz neighborhood.
