Congressman McGovern hosts Greenfield town hall on Trump concerns
Mar 18, 2025
GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Massachusetts congressman Jim McGovern was in Greenfield Tuesday night to hold a public town hall.
Residents there packed the auditorium and outside of the Greenfield Middle School to share their concerns with McGovern over the current state of the country and the execu
tive orders by the Trump administration.
McGovern called on residents to take action—encouraging them to keep participating in town halls—put pressure on elected officials and take part in the democratic process. "People are deeply concerned and this is what democracy looks like," Congressman McGovern says. "750 People are packed in here, who disagree strongly with Trump's policies and don't want to lose our democracy. It's not an exaggeration to say our democracy is in peril right now and institutions aren't going to save people. People are going to save people and that's what happening here."
McGovern says that he plans to continue these meetings, especially within republican districts.
