High school girls wrestling allstar team for 202425 season
Mar 17, 2025
Player of the Year
GG Dominish
Perry, Freshman
Dominish burst onto the varsity scene with a strong resume to her name from her junior high exploits. She showed the jump to high school wasn’t too daunting, finishing the season 42-6 and placing third in the state tournament. The third-place finish i
s the highest a News-Herald girl has ever finished in an OHSAA-sanctioned girls state tournament. Dominish did it in dominating fashion, too. Her four victories in Columbus came by 15-second pin, 15-1 major decision, 17-1 technical fall and 3:42 pin in the match for third place. Her only loss was to Urbana’s Libertie Nigh, the eventual state runner-up. The future is very bright for Dominish.
Coach of the year
Theresa Dominish, Perry
We’ll make this a clean sweep for the Dominish family, with Perry Coach Theresa Dominish taking home coach-of-the-year honors while her daughter takes home wrestler-of-the-year honors. The Perry program is growing very quickly. Dominish will say the credit is to be spread around to her husband, who shares coaching duties with her, and the coaches of the boys program. But her enthusiasm and energy is contagious and the Perry girls program reflects that. The Pirates had two state-placers in GG Dominish and Abby Cornwell, with Eva Kutscher serving as a state-alternate. All three are underclassmen and will be back next year, as well as the rest of the fledging program.
