KENTWOOD, La. (WGNO) — Possible tornado damage has been reported in Kentwood as a result of the severe weather system rolling through the area, resulting in a rare Particularly Dangerous Situation tornado watch until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 15.
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Off
ice, deputies are responding to reports of structural damage from what was likely a tornado around the area Highway 1055/1054, in the north-end of the parish.
Severe weather ongoing Saturday afternoon
TPSO dispatch reports that multiple damaged homes have been cleared by the Kentwood Fire Department, and one person has been rescued. Additionally, several powerlines have been reported down on Taylor Creek Road and Elk River Road in Amite, and a complete road blockage has been reported on Highway 1055/1054
Officials with the Kentwood Police Department say that fire and rescue is on scene to assist, and they, along with the TPSO, corroborate that no injuries have yet been reported.
