Temperatures to get warmer this week: what to look forward to
Jan 26, 2025
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - There were no single-digit temperatures on Sunday morning, which is good news for many residents.
Western Massachusetts woke up in double digits on Sunday, which is a good change from the bitter cold we have been feeling over the past week. Only a handful of days in January hit above forty, and several days last week had highs only in the teens.

The average high temperature of this month is 34 degrees, which we have barely felt so far. The good news is that temperatures are expected to climb above that average over the next couple days.
Sunday has a high of 38 degrees, so if you're looking to get out, this will be the best day of the week to spend time outdoors, whether it's taking your dog for a walk, or enjoying the last of the snow before it melts away.
But although Sunday is expected to be warmer, the coldest month of the year isn't over just yet. Colder temperatures are expected to come back over the next 10 days, so keep those hats and gloves nearby.
And of course, if you do choose to spend time outside on Sunday, it's still going to be in the 30s, so layer up and do all you can to make sure you, your family, and your pets have a safe and enjoyable day.
