Geauga Park District to put on ‘Wild About Winter Nights’
Jan 25, 2025
Geauga Park District is introducing “Wild About Winter Nights” – a new all-ages community event showcasing all the fun a winter night can provide.
On Feb. 1, at Big Creek Park, guests will want to bundle up for the weather with appropriate footwear and arrive at 6 p.m. to enjoy everything from a bonfire in the field near Maple Grove Shelter to an owl hike led by Chief Naturalist John Kolar to a luminary-lit trail for self-guided hiking, according to a news release.
There will also be various outdoor snow games, naturalist-guided astronomy with a park telescope if skies are clear, and snowshoeing — first-come-first-served and weather dependent. Attendees also can visit the shelter area for hot cocoa, s’mores and nature-based playground to explore in winter night conditions.
The festivities will wrap up at 9 p.m.
Wild About Winter Nights is free to enjoy and entirely outdoors; no registration is required, the release stated.
If parking is full near the Maple Grove Shelter, park in the Donald W. Meyer Center or Deep Woods Lodge lots to catch a free shuttle to the event. Or, for added adventure, park in the Meyer Center lot and take the Trillium Trail to the event through the woods.
Big Creek Park is located at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township.
