(KRON) -- CC Sabathia, a longtime MLB pitcher who made the baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday, is making a movie about his hometown -- Vallejo, Calif. Sabathia's media platform "Grapefruit Media" announced the movie on Thursday. It is called "Vallejo" and is centered around his experience playing Little League baseball in Vallejo. Based on CC’s rise with the 1989 North Vallejo Little League All-Stars, this is a story about so much more than baseball - one of resilience, brotherhood, and hope," Grapefruit Media said. Rapper LaRussell, a Vallejo native, will star in the movie, he confirmed on social media. "WE FINALLY GET TO SEE OUR CITY ON THE BIG SCREEN!!!! 'VALLEJO' coming soon," he said. According to an article by Variety, the movie focuses on Sabathia and his friends trying to stay on the right path in a city that was struggling economically. GTG Studios is partnering with Grapefruit Media to produce the film. Sabathia attended Vallejo High School and was drafted straight out of high school by Cleveland in 1998. He pitched in MLB from 2001-2019, winning a Cy Young award and a World Series title and making six all-star games.
