SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Oglala Sioux Tribe is planning to increase police presence throughout the area to protect citizens, citing recent community concerns.
In a post on Facebook, the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety claimed that this proactive measure aims to enhance and strengthen community relations.

"We believe that an increased Officer presence will help discourage crime and provide reassurance to our Oyate” said Police Chief Danielle Means in the post. “Our OST and BIA officers are here to serve and protect, both agencies are made up of our tribal members, approach them and talk to them we encourage residents to communicate”.
Additionally, ICE is reportedly not present on Pine Ridge Indian reservation, the presence of FBI and US Marshals may be observed as they continually address matters on the reservation.
