Colder today but milder temperatures this weekend
Jan 24, 2025
Arctic air has settled back into the state Friday morning. This has taken air temperatures to the lower single digits across much of central Indiana. Some locations have even fallen below zero. Wind chills are not as harsh as they were earlier in the week, but a few locations are still measuring wind chills more than 10° below zero. It will be a cold day with plenty of sunshine. High temperatures will rebound to the lower 20s this afternoon.
A few clouds move in this evening as we remain quiet, dry and cold. Bundle up if you have plans to be out this evening! However, while we remain cold, we will see temperatures warming overnight. After falling to the mid teens near midnight, we will climb back to the mid 20s by daybreak Saturday.
Clouds build in overnight and we could see some flurries and light snow showers Saturday morning. These snow showers will be more isolated in nature but could provide a light coating on the ground in some locations. Some roads may become slick.
We finally break back above freezing Saturday afternoon. However, we continue to find speedbumps in our temperature recovery. A cold front passes Saturday. Temperatures on Sunday will likely not make it back above freezing. We get the warmup back on track next week with plenty of sunshine and several days we could see high temperatures in the 40s.
