Study: Those with ADHD have a shorter life expectancy
Jan 23, 2025
(CNN) — People with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder have a shorter life expectancy and higher risk of mental health issues.
Researchers looked at data from more than 30-thousand adults with the disorder in the United Kingdom.
They compared it with 300-thousand without the condition. The findings show men had a reduction in life expectancy by four and a half to nine years, while women’s life expectancy was shortened by six and a half to eleven years.
The study’s lead author says it indicates unmet support needs for people with ADHD.
