The video above details the eight Fayetteville homicides since the start of 2025 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Kim Strickland is desperately trying to raise money to give her sister a proper farewell. Fayetteville police said Strickland's sister, Sherri Miller, 57, was stabbed to death by her son Christopher Walker, 40, earlier this month. Miller's remains are at the state medical examiner's morgue as Strickland scrambles to come up with the funds to pay for a funeral home. Strickland said she was her sister's only sibling and she lives on a fixed income. "I can't find one for less than $1,000 right now," Strickland said. "I just don't have it." "It's hard," she said. "It's really hard because people like me on a fixed income don't have the funds because they have bills to pay too." "Among the few friends of mine, I raised $130. I got a total of about $400. I'm going to have to go sell stuff I own to get her buried. It's bad to have to send your loved ones off and go in a hole doing it."  Strickland has established a GoFundMe page to help with the funeral expenses.
