Jaeda Wilson: Athlete of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Cathedral girls basketball won the City Tournament on Friday by just three points against Bishop Chatard.
They can thank Jaeda Wilson for that.
Wilson had a team-high 20 points and knocked down six three pointers in the championship game, including the go-ahead three-pointer late in the fourth quarter.
“It was just the zone I was in,” Wilson said. “I couldn’t even tell you where I hit the shots from. It was my teammate and me, and I was open, and I’ve been practicing those shots for a long time now, so I just took them.”
“Just having her ready to catch and shoot and having passers working on getting her a shooters pass, and I encourage her to shoot the ball when she’s open so hopefully she keeps hitting them,” Cathedral girls basketball head coach Lisa Finn said.
Wilson also leads Cathedral in scoring this season, averaging almost 12 points per game and leads the team in three-pointers made.
“I think her ceiling is very high,” Finn said. “She kind of started playing basketball a little bit later than a lot of girls do, so I’m excited to see what the future holds for her.”
