(WFRV) - A woman from Green Bay is facing two charges, including 1st-degree reckless homicide after her fiancé's overdose death back in November 2023.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Local 5, 41-year-old Stacie Girling has been charged with homicide after her reported fiancee died from a drug overdose. On November 8, 2023, around 12:15 p.m. authorities responded to a residence in Howard for a man who was reportedly overdosing.
When authorities got to the scene, they saw a man doing CPR on the person overdosing. Additionally, they saw Girling with no clothes on and 'frantically' asking for help for the person overdosing, according to the complaint.

Girling ended up speaking with authorities where she said that the person who overdosed was her fiancé. The complaint says she left the residence earlier in the day to buy cigarettes and believed that the victim had smoked marijuana while she was gone.
Eventually, both Girling and the victim went to bed and fell asleep. Girling reportedly said that when she woke up she saw the victim was not breathing. The complaint says that there was another overdose-type event that the victim experienced on October 23, 2023.
Girling told authorities that the victim was given Narcan that day and was revived. Authorities ended up searching the residence of the victim and Girling. Among the items that were found was a powder that tested positive for fentanyl.
An autopsy was done on the victim and the cause of death was listed as 'toxic effects of fentanyl'.
On November 30, authorities spoke with two other people who were present the night the man overdosed. One of the people reportedly told authorities that Girling had left to go get drugs the day of the overdose.
The other person reportedly told authorities that he was concerned about a comment Girling made after the victim's death. The comment was regarding a life insurance policy for the victim.
The complaint says that Girling said something to the effect of 'Well I do have insurance on him.' Authorities also looked at multiple messages from Girling's phone.

The complaint says that Girling repeatedly made statements to the effect of, 'I didn't kill him', during the arrest.
Girling is charged with:

Felony
Up to 60 years in prison
