Man pleads no contest to murder in 2020 fatal shooting at Flower and Miller streets

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A 23-year-old man faces a life term in prison after pleading no contest to murder in connection to a deadly shooting that occurred in East Bakersfield in 2020.
Michael Steven Green pleaded no contest Wednesday to second-degree murder and faces 15 years to life in prison, plus 10 years, according to prosecutors.

Sentencing is set for next month.
On Dec. 1, 2020, deputies were dispatched to Flower and Miller streets where they found Eduardo Javier Cardenas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Cardenas, 39, was rushed to Kern Medical, where he died hours later.
Deputies arrested Green a week later. He's been in custody ever since.
