FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A woman accused of stealing from a southwest Fort Wayne Target and evading police by hiding in the woods on the northwestern edge of Allen County will be on probation rather than behind bars. A total of eight charges in a November theft-turned-chase were dismissed after Sarah Harris pleaded guilty last week to corrupt business influence. The investigation began two months ago when officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of shoplifting at Target. Harris, along with the other suspect - Jeremy Hollis - drove away and led police on a high-speed chase that officers eventually called off. The car was later found near US 33 and Felger Road, about a 20-minute drive from the store when going the speed limit. Investigators searched the area and eventually found Harris and Hollis hiding underneath brush in a hole in the woods. After spending the last couple of months in jail, Harris was ordered to serve four years of probation. Hollis faces similar charges and is now wanted on a separate theft charge out of Adams County, where a warrant has been issued for his arrest, court records show.
