WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation after an apartment fire in Southeast D.C. early Wednesday morning. In a post on the X platform just after 3:45 a.m., responders said crews with the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) responded to a box alarm at an apartment building in the 500 block of 32nd St. There, first responders discovered the fire in an apartment on the first floor. D.C. firefighters battled the blaze in 10 degrees as an arctic blast continued to move across the region Wednesday morning. The fire came as the District remained under a cold weather emergency alert. The DCFD said a salt truck was requested to the scene for icy road conditions.
