Winter weather alters schedules for Richland Co. Government facilities

Richland County, SC (WOLO) —– According to the Public Information Office for Richland County, the area is under a winter storm warning until 9 am and a cold weather advisory until 10 am Wednesday morning. Administrators say in an attempt to keep their employees and residents as safe as possible, and the threat of poor road, and parking conditions they will not reopen county offices for business until 1 pm on Wednesday, January 22.
Officials say they anticipate slick road conditions, and possibly black ice that has lead them to make changes in schedules that could impact various areas of Government.
According to the PIO, Richland County Solid Waste and recycling facilities which include the Clemson Road Drop -off Recycling Site, Lower Richland Drop -off Center and the C&D Landfill will all open at 1pm Wednesday.
Curbside and Solid Waste collection slated for Wednesday will be delayed one day and officials are asking residents to expect delays in curbside collection through the weekend. Those living in the Richland County area are being asked to leave their carts at curbside despite the anticipated delays.
In addition, County officials say the Jim Hamilton-L.B. Owens Airport terminal and fixed base operator services are closed, but will resume normal operations at 9am Wednesday morning. The times for reopening the location could change depending weather and airfield conditions. Officials say County staff will continue to monitor ongoing changes and release updates as needed.
