Fredericksburg police investigate shots fired, breaking and entering incident

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (DC News Now) -- Fredericksburg police said it responded to shots fired as well as a breaking and entering incident on Monday afternoon.
Police said that at about 6 p.m., several 9-1-1 calls were made for the report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Townsend Boulevard.
While investigating, police learned that there was a breaking and entering incident where several items were stolen from an apartment.
As officers continued to investigate, they were told a single round went into an apartment and was stuck in the kitchen cabinet. This is not the same apartment where the items were stolen.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of people leave the building, get into a vehicle, and drive south on Emancipation Highway after hearing a gunshot.
Police said there were no reported injuries during these incidents.
Officers are still not sure if the shots fired are related to the breaking and entering incident.
