FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (DC News Now) -- Fredericksburg police said it responded to shots fired as well as a breaking and entering incident on Monday afternoon. Police said that at about 6 p.m., several 9-1-1 calls were made for the report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Townsend Boulevard. While investigating, police learned that there was a breaking and entering incident where several items were stolen from an apartment. As officers continued to investigate, they were told a single round went into an apartment and was stuck in the kitchen cabinet. This is not the same apartment where the items were stolen. Warming shelters open across DMV as bitter cold moves through Witnesses reported seeing a group of people leave the building, get into a vehicle, and drive south on Emancipation Highway after hearing a gunshot. Police said there were no reported injuries during these incidents. Officers are still not sure if the shots fired are related to the breaking and entering incident.
