The coldest day of the year so far; a warm up is on the way

A weak cold front caused a few light snow showers Tuesday morning and behind the front Tuesday was the coldest day of the year so far. Tuesday's high temperature was 8°, the coldest day for Indianapolis since Jan. 15, 2024, when we had a high temperatures of 6°. Skies will remain clear overnight, allowing temperatures to fall below zero. The Cold Weather Advisory continues through 10 a.m. Wednesday and numerous school delays have already been announced.
The worst of the bitter cold will end Wednesday. Temperatures will start to improve with afternoon highs rising into the 20s. Another weak weather system will bring a few snow light snow showers Wednesday night into Thursday with no accumulation expected. High temperatures will stay in the 20s through Friday with morning lows in the teens Highs will gradually rise back into the mid-30s this weekend with dry weather on Saturday, and a chance for more snow on Sunday.
We've had almost 16 inches of snow this winter.
