Weather Alert: Bitterly Cold Next Few Days
Jan 21, 2025
WEATHER ALERT: Watch for icy roads and sidewalks. It will be quite frigid during the next 2-3 days. Below zero wind chills are expected again Wednesday morning. Dress for the cold, especially if you'll be spending an extended period of time outdoors. And don't forget the pets! They feel the cold, too.
Good afternoon! Dress for bitter cold today as wind chills will still be in the single digits, at times during the afternoon. We'll be facing these frigid temperatures for a few days before we start to see a bit of a warm up (if you want to call it that). Looking to our south there is an historic storm underway impacting the Gulf Coast States...more on that below.
Here are some common sense things to keep in mind during this cold. Also, please keep in mind your pets...give them a warm shelter and limit their time outdoors, too. Animals feel the cold, too.

TONIGHT
Clouds will be around this evening, but break apart after midnight. Temperatures will plummet late in the night into the single digits.
TOMORROW
For Wednesday morning, once again, wind chills will be dipping below zero...maybe a little deeper below zero.
Wind chills will be in the single digits and teens in the afternoon on Wednesday.
We'll have lots of sunshine Wednesday with highs in the upper teens and lower 20s, once again.
LOOKING AHEAD
We'll have another frigid start on Thursday, but we'll be warming up all the way into the low 30s in the afternoon. Woohoo!
HISTORIC GULF COAST STORM
An area of low pressure moving across the Gulf of Mexico (or is it America now?) combined with bitter cold air is producing record amounts of snow along the Gulf Coast.
Up to 8" of snow is possible in New Orleans, while nearly 6" of snow are possible in the panhandle of Florida! That's more than we have gotten in the Providence area during the entire winter.
Blizzard warnings are in effect for the Lake Charles, LA area....that's never happened before. Winter storm warnings extend from Houston to North Carolina.
