MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Bitter cold continues to grip the Mid-South Tuesday morning with snow flurries covering parts of the area, especially south of the Mississippi state line. Morning lows are in the teens and highs are in the 20s with dangerously cold wind chills possible. Wind chills will drop between 5-10 degrees at times with north winds around 10-15 miles per hour. The National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory until 9 a.m. on Wednesday due to temperatures significantly below freezing. Check the latest forecasts from WREG Weather According to MDOT traffic, icy conditions have been reported on U.S. Highway 61 between MS 304 and Stateline Road. The traffic impact on roads and bridges is high at this time. Tunica County School District says their schools and offices will be closed for the day due to hazardous road conditions. You can monitor schools and other closings here for updates. The blast of cold arctic air will linger for another 48 hours before it slowly warms back up heading into the weekend. A few flurries are expected overnight, but chances for precip, frozen or otherwise, remain minimal at this time.
