Pacers in Paris for pair of games against Spurs
Jan 21, 2025
The Indiana Pacers arrived in Paris this week for a pair of games against the San Antonio Spurs.
This marks the first time the NBA will play two regular-season games in the French capital in the same season. The league dubbed the event the “Paris Games 2025.”
The NBA posted video and photos Tuesday of the Pacers standing in front of Paris’ famous Eiffel Tower. The team's account posted a brief video.
Indiana (24-19) will play San Antonio (19-22) on Thursday, Jan. 23 (2 p.m. ET tip), and Saturday, Jan. 25 (12 p.m. ET tip). Paris is six hours ahead.
For Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, the games mark a homecoming. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and reigning Rookie of the Year will play NBA games in his home country for the first time.
Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton won a gold medal in Paris last summer as part of the U.S. Olympic team. He told NBA.com he was “excited” to be back and understood fans would undoubtedly be in Wembanyama’s corner.
“So, we’re going in there, probably not a ton of cheers and support for us, but that’s OK,” Haliburton said.
Thursday’s game is considered a “home” game for the Pacers, while they’re designated as the “visitors” for Saturday. Both games will be played at Accor Arena.
