CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Crews battled a two-alarm fire at a commercial building in northwest Charlotte, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
Around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, crews responded to the 1700 block of Tar Heel Road about a tanker trailer on fire inside a warehouse. When they arrived, they saw fire from the roof of a chemical exchange facility. No injuries were reported, officials said.
Roughly 15 minutes later, a second alarm was struck and the fire was fully controlled just after 8 a.m. CFD said there was a tanker inside the building that was on fire as a result of "some type of chemical exchange and explosion."
Both the tanker and the building were damaged in the incident.

CFD says it conducted thorough air and water quality tests out of caution and all came back negative, confirming no danger to the public from smoke or runoff.
“Our firefighters’ quick response and coordination ensured the fire was contained rapidly, and extensive monitoring confirmed there were no public health risks,” said Fire Chief Reginald Johnson. “We are proud of the diligence and professionalism our team demonstrated in protecting the community.”
The cause is still under investigation and crews will continue to stay at the scene.
