AUSTIN (KXAN) – KXAN is monitoring Austin’s water and power utilities amid ongoing winter weather conditions. We have reached out to Austin Energy, Austin Water and 311 for updates on services and will update this report as soon as more information is available. City utilities appear to be working normally, compared to winter storms in recent years. Austin Energy’s outage map shows few power disruptions throughout the city. That’s a departure from February 2023 when an ice storm caused tree limbs, and whole trees, to break and tear down power lines. Roughly a third of Austin Energy's customers lost power during that event. KXAN is waiting for an update from the Austin Water on the status of the system and water supply. Austin 311 phone lines were up and running, and operators were quickly answering calls from customers in need of service on Tuesday morning. 311 also has an app and online services available here. KXAN will update this report as more information from utilities becomes available.
