COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A study has revealed which American cities are on track to become hotspots for renters in 2025, with three Ohio municipalities making the list.  RentCafe.com, a nationwide apartment search platform, ranked its “top cities to watch” in 2025, based on which municipalities gained the most online engagement on its website in the past 12 months.  The 150 largest cities in the United States were considered, with researchers analyzing which had the highest rates of page views, favorites and saved searches, as well as the lowest availability rates.  Safety tips for your house during frigid temperatures The study ranked Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati relatively high, marking Ohio as the only Midwestern state with multiple entries on the list. Columbus sat at No. 30, seeing a 25% decrease in available listings in 2024 compared with 2023. This led to the city having a tighter rental market than 120 other cities analyzed, and apartment hunters facing few options, according to the study. The metro did, however, see decreases in page views (-17%), favorited listings (-44%) and saved searches (-46%).  Ohio’s capital actually placed the lowest out of the state’s three largest cities, with Cleveland ranking at No. 4 and Cincinnati ranking at No. 10. Cleveland experienced a 26% increase in page views compared with 2023, and renters favored 7% more listings. The city also saw an 18% drop in apartment availability, highlighting the high demand for rental properties.  Cincinnati’s available listings dropped by 5%, narrowly securing it a spot in the top 10, despite seeing declines in page views (-19%), favorited listings (-47%) and saved searches (-54%).  Did you win? Lottery ticket worth $1 million sold in Reynoldsburg Taking the No. 1 spot as the top city for renters to watch in 2025 was Minneapolis, Minnesota, which experienced a 36% increase in page views on RentCafe.com compared to 2023. The city also saw a 16% drop in apartment availability and an 8% rise in saved searches.  Completing the top 10 was Atlanta, Georgia (No. 2); Overland Park, Kansas (No. 3), Washington, D.C. (No. 5), Santa Rosa, California (No. 6); Detroit, Michigan (No.7); Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (No. 8); and Chicago, Illinois (No. 9).
