GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – With the NFL Draft just over three months away, those planning a trip to northeast Wisconsin may face challenges in finding accommodations, both in terms of availability and cost. "We did triple our rates, but we are fully booked. That happened immediately, which is exciting for us, and we know a lot of our regulars are happy to be here too," said Stephanie Stuiber, front desk and hostess at St. Brendan's Inn. "We have a pretty good reasonable rate that we have it at, and so people wanted that right away. We have a great place here too, so they’re always welcome to enjoy our quaint little hotel." Hy-Vee donates $69K to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin According to Stuiber, all rooms at St. Brendan's Inn were reserved within a week, despite the increased rates. Many Green Bay hotel rooms are priced around $1,500 per night, while rooms in the Fox Valley area are going for $1,000 per night. “It’s going to be booked up, and it’s going to be busy starting the week before the draft starts. Maybe the 20th," said Haresh Chaudhary, manager of Country Inn and Suites in Little Chute, noting about 30% vacancy the week of the draft. “That should be booked up by the end of this month.” Chaudhary’s rooms range from $800 to $1,000 per night, with potential price increases in the coming weeks as demand continues to rise. “It’s going to be cheaper now, and probably February, the first week, is going to be higher,” he said. “That might be going up a month later when everybody is going to be booked up, then it’s going to be up.” Chaudhary expressed optimism about the economic boost the draft will bring to the area. “It’s going to be good, economically, in this area," he said. "Especially the restaurants, hotels." At St. Brendan’s, the bar hours will be extended to accommodate the increased business before and after the draft rounds. “We are extending our hours, we’re going to be open a little earlier and a little bit later, which will be nice," Stuiber said. “This is a big event for Green Bay, which is very exciting. It will be good for all the businesses around here.” The staff at St. Brendan’s is preparing for the influx of visitors, ensuring the kitchen, bar, and hosting areas are ready to handle the increased demand. “Very busy. We’re busy on the weekends normally, but I think this is going to be a lot busier. We’ll probably have all three of our wonderful bartenders on,” Stuiber said. “We have to amp up our hosting and just making sure our customers are first and we can take care of them and get the kitchen ready for all the people we're going to be feeding.” Communities across northern Wisconsin gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. While not everyone will have the chance to stay at St. Brendan’s for the draft, Stuiber encourages visitors to experience their restaurant. “It’s very family-oriented here, and it’s a taste of Ireland, and you just get a cozy feel when you walk in," she said.
