Springfield organizations recognized for cultural grants

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Over $1.8 million in funding was awarded to 740 organizations across the state by the Mass Cultural Council, including 24 in Springfield.

Each organization received a grant of $2,500 to honor Springfield’s rich jazz history and its enduring impact on the community to engage local youth in creative programs. Representative Bud Williams, Chair of the Joint Committee on Racial Equity, Civil Rights, and Inclusion, proudly announced six organizations in the 11th Hampden District have been awarded grants from the Mass Cultural Council’s FY25 Festivals & Projects program.

“This funding is a testament to the value of cultural programs in building stronger, more connected communities,” said Rep. Williams. “The six organizations awarded grants in the 11th Hampden District are helping preserve our cultural heritage, inspire creativity, and bring people together. This is the type of progress that reflects our district’s unique character and commitment to everyone, especially our historically underserved and marginalized communities.”
