ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police took one suspect into custody after officers were shot at during an early morning traffic stop on Monday. According to the Albuquerque Police Department, an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a white Acura near Tennessee Street and Trumbull Avenue just before 4 a.m. Monday morning. The officer was conducting the traffic stop because the vehicle did not have a license plate. However, the vehicle fled, and just minutes later, the officer reported that a passenger in the vehicle was firing several gunshots at officers. Police say that no officers were injured by the gunfire, but one officer suffered a minor injury in a crash during the chase. APD conducted a search for the suspects in a large area around San Mateo Boulevard and eventually took one suspect into custody. The other individuals involved have not yet been located. Police have opened up the perimeter, but investigators are still collecting evidence.
